GEORGE GODFREY

A talented artist from Liverpool, England, has made a name for himself in the world of abstract photography. With a career that spans from being an elite athlete to a television producer and editor, he brings a unique perspective and interpretation to his craft.

Having studied Television Production and Journalism, George's background in the broadcasting industry has greatly influenced his artistic journey. While initially working as a news and documentary filmmaker and producer, he eventually found his passion in photographic abstract art and the endless possibilities it holds.

George's approach to photography is guided by his imagination, allowing viewers to create their narratives when looking at his images. His work has garnered praise for its exceptional quality, mystical aura, and intriguing nature. Through the intentional camera movement (ICM) technique, George strives to capture the imagination of others in each photograph he takes.

Seeing the world in black and white, in a simplistic and binary way, can be unsettling for us as human beings. But imagination is a powerful tool that allows us to dream and think beyond the present reality. It enables us to see possibilities where others see obstacles creating a vision.

IMAGINATION

In the year 1967, when I was just 11 years old in Liverpool, England, I would awaken early on weekends and school holidays. Around 4:30 in the morning, while my parents still slept, I would quietly slip out of our house with a hastily made sandwich. My mission? To discover another world.

My transportation of choice was the grand fleet of double-decker buses known as the big green goddesses, all operated by Liverpool City Council. The first bus of the morning would whisk me away to the city center and the Pier Head.

As someone who enjoyed solitude, I relished the freedom that mornings provided. I became adept at hopping from one bus to another, losing myself in the journey. This was my escape and an opportunity to explore new realms within my young mind. Little did I realize at the time that this daily quest was laying a foundation for something much deeper.

Given my limited financial resources as an eleven-year-old, discarded bus tickets found on the ground became my means of transportation from point A to point B throughout the city - guiding me toward new chapters of my dreams. As rain-soaked streets passed by outside the bus windows, a flurry of vivid images flooded my mind. Each image held its own captivating story to be told and cherished.

AN AMERICAN DREAM

The New York City subway system is often described as a microcosm of the city itself, a bustling and vibrant underground world that never sleeps.

With its maze of tunnels, diverse commuters, and unique energy, the subway is truly a marvel within itself. As one descends the stairs into the depths of the subway system, they are greeted with a cacophony of sounds - the screeching of trains, the murmur of conversations, the clatter of footsteps.

The stations themselves are a mix of old and new, with some dating back to the early 1900s and others more modern in design. The art and architecture of the stations tell the stories of New York City's past and present, showcasing a blend of history and innovation.
